What a memorable LGBTQ History Month!
From drag shows and coffee dates to walking tours and new murals, October was jam packed with exciting events. We were amazed and grateful for all of the support and interest in our mission of sharing Kentucky’s LGBTQ history. As the archive easily shows, LGBTQ Kentuckians have always had a presence in our Commonwealth, and we have every right to be protected, included, and celebrated.
That’s why we need the Faulkner Morgan Archive. The archive shines a light on our community’s stories, ensuring they are saved, shared, and remembered for all Kentuckians. These stories help us know our past, they help us understand our present, and they help us fight for a better future.

We are so grateful for our many, many supporters who donated during LGBTQ History Month and throughout the year. Your donations ensure that LGBTQ stories from Kentucky will be protected, honored, and shared for generations to come. In a time of political backlash, your support is more than generosity, it’s an act of resistance and hope. It ensures that we are able to continue recording and preserving the stories that have too often been overlooked or erased.
We are so grateful that you are joining us
as we share Kentucky’s LGBTQ history!

NEW Henry Faulkner Mural!
The Faulkner Morgan Archive is excited to announce the completion of a new LGBTQ mural in downtown Lexington! 🏳️🌈🎉
This new mural is the first piece of public artwork or landmark in the U.S. dedicated to the life and legacy of Henry Faulkner. Wylie Caudill created this mural using an illustration created by Cricket Press for Henry's 100th birthday and incorporated various elements from Faulkner's paintings.
We had amazing time seeing everyone at the Live Mural Paint Party!
The mural is located at 162 Church St, right around the corner from the mural of Sweet Evening Breeze, “The Mother of Us All,” by Gaia. That mural was the first piece of public art in Lexington dedicated to an LGBTQ Kentuckian. This mural of Henry Faulkner is the second. Having these two murals in close proximity to each other is deeply meaningful as Sweets housed Henry when he was a young, gay man. Together, these murals will speak to their relationship and the incredible impact and legacy that the pair had on Lexington’s LGBTQ community. 🌈✨
This mural was made possible due to generous financial support from LexArts, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, and Griffin VanMeter, with additional assistance from PRHBTN. A huge thank you to Wylie Caudill for donating his time and labor to create such a wonderful artwork. Shoutout to Muse Marketing & Design for these wonderful photos.
